Best Time to Visit Santorini
There is no single best month for Santorini. The right period depends on whether you want swimming, walking, nightlife, lower prices or quieter villages.
Late spring
May and early June usually balance long days, active tourism infrastructure and more comfortable sightseeing than the hottest part of summer. Sea temperatures may still feel cool to some swimmers.
High summer
July and August bring the strongest heat and highest visitor pressure. If travelling then, plan outdoor activities early and accept that Oia sunset and port movements require patience.
Early autumn
September is attractive for warm sea conditions and a still-active season. October can be excellent for lower intensity, but operating hours and weather become less predictable later in the month.
Winter and very early spring
The island remains inhabited, but many tourism businesses close or reduce hours. This is a different kind of visit focused more on landscape and local life than beach-resort activity.
