Kamari combines a long black beach with one of the island’s most developed resort areas and easy access to the east side.
Kamari is practical for families and beach-oriented travellers: it is relatively flat, busy enough for choice and close to the airport.
Mesa Vouno rises immediately to the south, with Ancient Thera above. This makes Kamari useful for combining beach time with archaeology.
Airport proximity is convenient but means some parts of the area experience aircraft noise. Check an accommodation’s exact location if that matters to you.
Getting there
Kamari has regular bus links with Fira in the visitor season and is close to the airport. Aircraft noise varies by runway operations; if this matters to you, check your hotel location carefully.
Useful live information
Check current ferry departures, journey times and prices before committing to accommodation or onward transport.
Fira is the main bus hub. Seasonal timetables change, so use the operator’s current timetable rather than an old screenshot.
Taxi dispatch: (+30) 22860 22555. For a serious emergency anywhere in Greece call 112.
